You need to be careful on how you approach this.  If you aren’t then your cat or dog could end up getting hurt, but most likely your cat as they are much smaller than your dog in most cases.

Don’t ever just leave it up to chance and throw them in a room together with out any preparation.  This could turn out very bad for all of you.  Letting them sniff each other through the door for a day or two is great to start with.  If you put your cat in a room with food, water and a litter box they should be pretty comfortable and they will begin to get used to the new smells of the house and the dog on the other side of the door.

When you are actually ready for them to meet face to face, keep your dog on a leash so you can correct them quickly if need be.  You don’t want them lunging at your cat or kitten and if they do, you will have the control and you will be able to pull them back before anything bad happens.  It’s best to let the cat approach the dog as they lay or sit there with you.  This will be less intimidating for the cat.  You should do this over and over again until you feel comfortable with them being around each other with out any foul play.   Just because it’s ok the first time you approach this, doesn’t mean it will be the second time so don’t get ahead of yourself.  Just take your time and they should adjust to each other.

Cat adoption is a wonderful way to help ones that are in need of love and a good home.  There are so many out there just waiting for someone to come rescue them.   They will be forever grateful and reward you with years of companionship and a whole lot of love.

When people think of bringing a cat into their lives, many of them start looking at pet stores and breeders first.  You can find cats and kittens of all types and ages at adoption shelters and a humane society near you.  I am warning you though, it may be hard when you first arrive and see all of the animals in need of homes, it’s an eye opening experience indeed but if you can save just one life, that’s one more happy cat in the world. I’ve adopted cats before and it’s such a wonderful feeling to know that you are taking in a cat that has been abandoned or mistreated by it’s previous owner.  You can then treat your cat the way it really deserves and give them a nice long, loving and healthy life.  Every animal in the world deserves just that.

If you are interested in bringing a pet into your life, find the nearest humane society or pet shelter to rescue a cat so it can start with a new beginning.  It’s the best way to go!  You can also check out Pet Finder, it’s a site that allows you to search by Animal, Breed and Location.

This little boy cat looks a lot like our Siamese kitten that we have had for over 10 yrs. now.  I love his little brown boots and the shade of grey on his hind quarters.  It makes me want to take him home and cuddle with this cute little kitty.

This cat looks like  he just got woken up from his nap and he’s not very happy about it.  He has really pretty markings and I love how the bottoms of his feet are jet black.

I have never seen a cat with markings like this.  What a beautiful Manx cat.  He reminds me of Tanto’s horse in the old Lone Ranger television show.

I love this cat.  He looks very wise, he kind of resembles Falcor from the movie “The Neverending Story”.

This black and white manx cat is on the prowl for something.  He has the prettiest green eyes that are a great contrast with his Tuxedo like appearance.

You can tell this kitten is going to be pretty big just by looking at his feet.  He has some big shoes to fill.

Wow, this manx looks like an exotic snow leopard with it’s distinctive markings.  I love her little pink nose with her green eyes… very beautiful.
